Key Information for You to Consider
Voluntary Participation: Your participation is entirely optional. There are no penalties if you choose not to participate or decide to withdraw later.
Purpose: This study aims to understand how multimodal deepfake information is generated and how generative AI influences perception and decision-making across multiple domains, including education, coding, and information authenticity.
Duration: The study will last approximately two weeks.
Activities: Participation involves three phases: a pretest survey, collaborative team work involving media creation, and a focus group interview for final assessment.
Risks: Minimal risks, such as fatigue from answering questions or creating multimedia files, are expected.
Benefits: You will gain awareness and experience with deepfake societal issues and the use of generative AI tools.
What Will Happen During the Study?
Phase 1: Complete a pretest survey and engage with ChatGPT.
Phase 2: Collaborate with a team of three, create authentic and manipulated media, and complete a post-test survey.
Phase 3: Participate in a focus group exit interview and final survey.
Privacy Protection:
No identifying information will be shared in publications or presentations.
Your data will be protected, though absolute confidentiality cannot be guaranteed.
Potential Risks:
Risks are minimal and may include fatigue and exposure to manipulated media.
Compensation:
Upon full participation, you will receive a $50 gift certificate.
Voluntary Participation:
You can choose not to participate or withdraw at any time without consequences.
